MULTIMEDIA

Microbial mats are highly structured, often very colorful communities of organisms that grow in a lot of very interesting environments. Use these pages to get a feel for what they look like in a number of the places where they occur. The animated short (7 minute) video Stromatolite Explorer uses computer animation and video microscopy to take you on an imaginary tour inside a microbial mat.
